Straight line cavaletti

Have you and your dog been working on the pre-cavaletti exercises and are ready to move on to cavaletti exercises? My second cavaletti module, Straight line cavaletti, is now online and freely available!

As the name implies, cavaletti poles are setup in a straight line for the dog to trot over. This module builds upon the pre-cavaletti skills, and it is best if your dog is familiar with some, if not most, of the pre-cavaletti skills. In case you missed it, you can still access the Pre-Cavaletti skills!

The straight line cavaletti module consists of three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Each level builds upon each other, and I would recommend working through them at your dog’s pace. Remember that every dog is different, with different physical health status, experience, needs, and goals!

There is actually a fourth level - Expert level - in the straight line cavaletti module. I am holding off releasing it until you and your dog have time to work on the other levels.

Straight line cavaletti is a relatively low-impact exercise that can help build endurance for working and performance dogs. I have found that it is an excellent exercise for young dogs, helping them build confidence and understand how their body works. Senior dogs can also benefit from straight line cavaletti exercises, as the presence of the poles encourages them to engage muscles for flexion and extension, enabling them to retain good muscle tone as they age.
